Introduction
The Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) was created 3 years ago due to a recognized need in the community for a centralized diagnostic and therapeutic clinic for women complaining of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. As such the clinic boasts state of the art diagnostic equipment and qualified personnel.
We are the only recognized URPS clinic in eastern Ontario (other than Kingston) and as such receive secondary, tertiary and quaternary referrals from this large catchment area. Medical students and residents rotate through the clinic on a regular basis.
We provide care in a compassionate and caring fashion and have always received top marks from patient satisfaction comment cards.
The clinic is the only one in Canada in which 3 qualified Urogynecologists work at the same workplace sharing the same database. Although the clinic is only 3 years into its existence we are actively in the process of creating a research network with other teaching centers in Canada. We currently have contacts in Toronto, Halifax and Calgary and will soon be embarking on randomized controlled trials with these institutions.
