Dr. Carl Aubrey Nimrod is remembered for his quiet grace and deep compassion for his patients, their families, and held a special place in his heart for his students.
Born in Guyana, Dr. Nimrod graduated from medical school at the University of the West Indies. After completing a residency at McMaster University, he pursued Fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. His committee interest in medical education spanned three decades in various educational leadership roles such as Residency Training Program Director in Obstetrics and Gynecology (University of Calgary), and Fellowship Training Program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (University of Ottawa).
Dr. Nimrod held the role of Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Ottawa from 1992 to 2006. He completed a 10 year term as Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa in 2006.
His legacy as an educator, mentor and life-long learner lives on in all those who enter The Carl Aubrey Nimrod (C.A.N.) Learning Centre" in the pursuit of knowledge to improve the health of mothers and their babies. The Carl Aubrey Nimrod (C.A.N.) Learning Centre, an educational hub for learners at all levels, will be a central repository to access up-to-date learning tools, task trainers and educational aides pertinent to the practice of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Newborn Care.
