How to Apply
- Make sure you have completed all the prerequisites and are eligible to apply to the Honour’s Program. Click here to read the section on Eligibility.
- Download the Application Form. Carefully read the instructions and fill out the form. You do not need to fill out the section on Activities and Work Experience.
- Verify your email address is written correctly. This is the primary way of contacting you.
- In the Admission Data section, enter the following information:
Classification: Full time
Year of Program: 4
Faculty: Medicine
Program: Honour’s Cellular and Molecular Medicine
- Be sure to sign and date the form.
- The fee is only $15, not $50 as indicated on the form
- Download the Supervisor Identification Form and fill it out. Be sure to include the supervisor’s contact information including telephone number and email address. It must be signed by you and your supervisor and returned to the Honour’s Program Coordinator with your application.
- If you have NOT found a supervisor by the March 15th deadline, you can enter the names of three possible supervisors where indicated on the form and/or your preferred research interests. If needed, the Program Coordinator and/or the Director will assist you in finding a supervisor. If a supervisor is identified after the deadline, you must contact the Program Coordinator (mlafont3@uottawa.ca) to notify her of the change.
N.B. Acceptance into the program is dependent upon finding a supervisor.
- Mail or deliver the completed application, an official copy of your University transcript(s), any required additional forms (e.g. citizenship form), AND the $15 payment (do not bring cash) to the Program Coordinator (address at bottom of page) by March 15th. Late applications will not be accepted.
- You will be billed only if you receive a conditional letter of acceptance AND only once your application is sent to the registrar’s office, generally in mid-April. Upon receipt of the completed application, a file will be opened for you and an email confirmation will be sent to you.
- A conditional letter of acceptance will be mailed to you once we have verified with your current Faculty that you have met all the 3rd year requirements.
- A final letter of acceptance from the Registrar’s Office will be mailed in late June or July.
- Once you have received the Offer of Admission from the Registrar’s Office, you must register in person at the Program Coordinator’s office in the Faculty of Medicine, Roger Guindon Hall, Room 3206. Because it is necessary to first establish that the 3rd year has been completed successfully, students in the Honour’s Program are usually not able to register until sometime in late June. This is due primarily to the time it takes to receive the Offer of Admission from the Registrar’s Office.
Reminder: The deadline for receipt of the completed application is March 15th.
