Research Interests:

Our laboratory is interested in deciphering the mechanisms governing neurodegeneration/injury and development. In terms of the former, we have a substantial effort focussed on Parkinsons disease and stroke. We are principally interested in how PD related genes may affect cell biological function and disease processes. We also have active research on how death related pathways which include calpains and cell cycle activators regulate neuronal activity amd dysfunction. We employ multiple biochemical cellular and animal modelling approaches. The latter include rodent and fly models of degeneration.
